This post is all about the good personal habits you need to start today.
Good Personal Habits: Health
1. Have Breakfast
Most people don’t realize how important it is to have a nice breakfast in the morning. It can help jump-start your metabolism and curve over-eating.
If you’re typically not hungry in the morning then eat something light like fruit or a granola bar. Don’t skip breakfast!

2. Drink Water
There are a plethora of reasons to drink plenty of water daily. If you haven’t heard anyone suggest drinking water then maybe you live under a rock.
Water helps flush your body of bad toxins and it lubricates your insides. It may also help you lose weight by aiding in the feeling of being full.
3. Make Time to Exercise
It’s very important to keep your body in good health. Get up and move. It’ll only help your body AND your mind.
Research shows that 30 minutes of simply walking or stretching five times a week can truly keep you in high spirits and give your body some energy.

4.Pay Yourself First
This was a new one for me. Just like most people, I’ve been ingrained to pay all of my bills/debt first. It wasn’t until I came across Robert Kiyosaki, who wrote the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, that I learned to pay myself first.
It’s what separates the rich people from the poor people… According to Robert Kiyosaki – a billionaire. It helps build your savings account.
If you’re interested in learning more about Rich Dad Poor Dad or Robert Kiyosaki’s financial advice, I highly recommend you check out his book. It truly is a life-saver and has sold millions of copies worldwide.
5. Pay On Time, Every Time
The way to live stress-free is not owing anybody anything. If you owe someone something it can really eat at you. Imagine owing someone a lot of money. Every day you wake up there’s a little bit of stress and anxiety that hits you.
It doesn’t feel good owing someone something. It’ll only make you feel bad.
Pay all of your bills as soon as you can. Take care of this FIRST (after paying yourself of course) and you’ll eliminate a lot of stress.
There are several ways to make money online now that weren’t available before. Get creative and maybe you’ll find something that works for you.

6. Budget Yourself
If you don’t give every dollar a job, you’ll lose track of them. You must give yourself a healthy spending limit and BE REALISTIC.
You should budget for:
- Groceries
- Transportation (car or public)
- Shopping (clothing stores, wanted items)
- Bills
- Social Life (eating out and/or hanging with friends)
If you’ve strategically paid yourself first, paid all of your bills, and budgeted your money you’ll be on the right track to reaching great financial goals.

7. Create a Safety Net
You may have heard of the idea to build an emergency fund. Same thing. Creating a safety net ensures that you’ll be okay if anything unexpected happens.
Life happens usually when we least expect it, so just prepare for the unknown.
What if you got a flat tire while driving and needed to replace all four tires? Would you be able to afford it without panicking?
If you live in a state where hurricanes happen often and you lose your house, will you be able to afford to stay somewhere else temporarily or move if needed?
If the answer is no (which it is for me 😅), then you need to take more time adding funds to your safety net (aka pay yourself first).

8. Set and Pursue Goals
If you don’t know where you’re heading you’ll head nowhere.
Setting goals for yourself helps you to get really clear on what you want out of life which gives you more momentum to take actionable steps.
It is both fun and stressful! It’s a time for you to sit down and get real with yourself.
Ask yourself a few questions:
- What is it that you want?
- What do you want to do?
- Is there anything you wish you did?
- Why haven’t you pursued your passion? or
- Have you pursued your passion?
It’s one thing to set goals, but it’s another if you set goals and never do anything to achieve them. You HAVE to take actionable steps to make your dreams come true.
There is a quote from Walt Disney that says, “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” I dare you to go out and do something about your goals.

9. Read Often
Reading books helps to stimulate the mind and serves as a healthy form of entertainment.
Some people really think that reading means going out to a library or book store and purchasing books. While that definitely is one way to do it, reading this blog also counts as reading.
Keep reading! Keep finding more things that interest you. It doesn’t have to be in the traditional way.
If you’re into reading actual books, here are some of my favorites!
10. Connect With Others
As an introvert, this is hard for me sometimes. I like to keep my head down and go to work, but I’ve discovered the benefits of connecting and socializing with others.
Building positive relationships with people can have a significant impact on your career. You never know who can help you. Also, life is way more fun when you get to do things with other people.
I’m a person who has a full-time job and is in the beginning stages of starting a side business. I have to really make an effort to have a good work-life balance.
It’s worth it! You don’t want to wake up one day and find yourself alone. One of my goals for the new year is to make more time for friends and family (and for some reason, this takes a lot of effort for me).
It’s been really tough in the last two years to connect with people. As an adult who lives in a new city and state, I will be the first to tell you how difficult it has been for this introvert to make adult friends.
