A month ago I decided to learn how to earn an income from blogging. When the pandemic first hit some time ago now, I was and still am a full-time teacher.
Not only am I a teacher, but I’m a music teacher. The arts and elective programs are usually the first to go when school districts start cutting funds. This made me extremely nervous!
I came across a Youtube video of someone explaining how they made $9,000 a month blogging.
This immediately sparked my interest! Teachers don’t get paid much AT ALL, so I was all for figuring out how to make that kind of money blogging.
I am at the finish line of month 2 of blogging. My first month blogging went really well!
I’m going to share with you how I made money blogging, my monthly blog goals, monthly blog schedule, monthly blog ideas that I tried, and my monthly blog income report.
This post is all about my monthly blog goals and monthly blog income.
February Goals | Monthly Blog Goals
I am still a beginner at this, but I am documenting what I did to get to where I’m at currently.
Finding different strategies helped me a lot! I read a lot of posts on blogging for beginners to figure out what I needed to do to make money blogging.
I actually made money in my first month blogging seriously. Here is my Blogging Monthly Income for the First Month.
Things happened a bit differently this month compared to last month.
My Insane Monthly Blog Goals:
- Publish 12 blog posts (3 per week)
- Update 1 old blog post each week
- Have 1000 sessions on my website

- Make money through Affiliate Links
- Try out a new Pinterest strategy (strategy explained below)
- Reach 100k monthly views on Pinterest
These are the goals I have written down at the beginning of my binder that’s dedicated to my blog.
The goals seem insane because I’ve only been blogging for 2 months… I had A LOT of learning to do if I really wanted to make these goals happen!

Did I reach my monthly blog goals?
So, what happened?! … I’m glad you asked!
Publish 12 blog posts (3 per week)
Yes! I was able to stick with a consistent monthly blog schedule. I schedule all of my posts in advance.
For example, now that February is over, I spent the last days of the month planning all of my blog posts for the month of March. I know the main topic of the posts and what day it’s going to publish.
How do I plan what to blog about? Leave a comment below if you want to know more about the strategy for that.
This goal does sound insane, but it’s all about managing your time really well! I am super determined to get this blog to a place that changes my life. As for you, what’s your time management like?

Update 1 old blog post each week
Similar to one of the monthly blog goals mentioned first, I plan all of the posts I’m going to update in advance.
I take the top 10 posts of the month and plug them into my content calendar as well. It’s a lot easier now that I’ve been blogging for two months… I actually have content to update 😅.
Have 1000 sessions on website
I did not reach this goal. As of today, I only had 470 sessions for the month of February. This is something that I will be focusing a lot on next month!
Having a lot of sessions gets you accepted into larger ad agencies. The top ad agency requires you to have a minimum of 10,000 sessions per month… Soooo, I have a lot of growing to do, but I’m up for the challenge haha!
Here is my website if you’re interested in seeing what I do!
Get 1000 page views
I reached this goal! Yay! As of today, I reached 1,174 page views for the month of February. With this in mind, I still don’t understand how I can get so many page views but it doesn’t directly affect the sessions.
If you know how this works, please feel free to share this information with me.
Make money through affiliate links
OMG! I made my first sale through an affiliate link! It was through the Amazon Affiliate program. I still haven’t been officially accepted into the program. You have to get at least 3 sales through your links first.
Halfway through the month, I realized I was focusing on multiple things at once which isn’t always the best use of time.
Another blogger mentioned what her goals were in the first year of blogging and she only mentioned getting a lot of page views and sessions to make money through ads.
It wasn’t until the second year when she started focusing on affiliate marketing, BUT I had the thought that maybe I’d try to do both of those at the same time.
Getting that first sale made me feel like I should continue to focus on both things; however, the main priority is getting a lot of page views and sessions because getting that will impact affiliate marketing. (I hope 🤞).
Try out new pinterest strategy
Yeah, this did not work for me, but I haven’t given up just yet. The new strategy consisted of me using idea pins on Pinterest.
I spent a lot of time creating idea pins just to discover that 1. it got a lot of impressions but not THAT many, and 2. it doesn’t link to your website at all.
I’m going to give it another try and see what happens though. It’s always good to keep monthly blog ideas fresh in hopes of keeping up with the algorithm of Pinterest.
Reach 100k monthly views on Pinterest
Nope! I was able to get 67k monthly views. The more impressions you get, the more likely you’ll also get a lot of link clicks… at least that’s the goal.
Although I didn’t reach 100k monthly views, it still increased by 23k from last month, so it is rising for sure, just not as fast as I had intended! Growth happened nonetheless.

Bonus Goal
When learning from pro bloggers, they all mention that the real long-lasting way to make money is through email marketing. I decided to give email marketing a try!
I signed up for the free version of Convertkit on February 3rd and went through a whole learning curve!
As of today, I have 5 new subscribers! I created a free opt-in email for viewers by downloading a free printable that I created in exchange for their email.
I was super happy after getting two subscribers! I’m still learning A LOT, but the future is bright!
Blogging Monthly Income Report
Google Adsense: $3.03
Amazon Affiliate: $.72
As of today, I made $3.75 this month through ads and affiliate links.
It may not be much to you, but the fact that I’ve only been blogging for 2 months, is great! Most people don’t start earning money until 6 months in! This is only the beginning!
What’s Next?
Month 3 is going to be awesome! I’m coming from a bit more experience now and can’t wait to see what happens! Hopefully, the posts that I wrote in January start to pick up more traffic after being out for 2 months.
Here are my goals for next month:
- 1000 sessions on website
- 2000 pageviews
- Make at least $5 through Google Ads
- Get at least 2 more affiliate sales through my affiliate links
- 90k monthly views on Pinterest
- The main goal is: GETTING MORE EYES ON MY CONTENT
I’ll be back at the end of March to let you know what happened! Having monthly blog reports and updates is so fun! It lets me see exactly what went well and what didn’t! We all know that having a definite goal is a sure way to make things happen in your life.
This month of blogging taught me the importance of planning ahead (preparing for trips), having a strategy, trying things that may not work, and remaining consistent.
Set some goals for yourself and track your progress! It’ll only help you grow and get better! I hope my learning experience helps you with yours.
